Lullaby of Birdland by George Shearing's arranged for Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet. This is an advanced arrangement that features individual solos as well as numerous soli and tutti sections and while challenging, a lot of fun to play.

Sentimental Journey, Words and Music by Bud Green, Les Brown and Ben Homer, arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling.  This is a delightful intermediate level arrangement of a Jazz / Show Tune staple. 

Serenade in Blue, Music by Harry Warren with Lyrics by Mack Gordon for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet and arranged by Kenneth Abeling.  This is a moderate to moderately advanced arrangement of a tune first popularized by the Glenn Miller Orchestra (Big Band) and first featured in the movie “Orchestra Wives”. This is a classic tune and readily recognizable to anyone over the age of 40. A must ballad for your Jazz library!

The Days of Wine and Roses by Henry Mancini arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintett arranged by Kenneth Abeling. This somewhat challenging arrangement is suitable for both concert performance or background music. The melody is shared amongst all members of the Quartet and the piece features tutti and soli sections that will showcase the precision of your ensemble!

“Entry of the Gladiators” or “Entrance of the Gladiators” Op. 68 by Julius Fucik, transcription for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling and also known as “Thunder and Blazes”.  Although its original intent was of a more serious nature, it has become perhaps the most recognizable “Circus March’ of all time. This is a more advanced march but can be played at normal march tempo as well as circus or “screamer” march.

National Emblem march by E. E. Bagley transcribed for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet.. This is an advanced intermediate/Easier advanced arrangement of the very well know march.

Semper Fidelis transcribed here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling, is another one of John Philip Sousa’s famous marches and The Official March of the United States Marine Corps. This transcription is of intermediate to advanced intermediate level difficulty.

City of Stars from La La Land, Music by Justin Hurwitz and Lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul arranged for Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet. This is an intermediate level arrangement of a multi-award winning, modern day movie musical classic!

 
Sing-along Medley #1, arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet is a collection 5 timeless classics to include: “Baby Face”, “Daisy Bell”, “By the light of the Silvery Moon”, “Down by the Old Mill Stream”, “I’m Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover”.  This piece is of intermediate level difficulty and is perfect for performances for elderly audiences, as a music history-teaching tool for younger audiences as well as other performance applications.
The Fairest of the Fair, here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet, is one of John Philip Sousa’s perhaps lesser played but certainly one of his best marches. This arrangement is an advanced intermediate to easy advanced level of difficulty and perfect for Patriotic ceremonies and events.
A Patriotic Medley by George M. Cohan. This is a collection or medley of three of Cohan’s favorite patriotic songs arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Ken Abeling.  The songs include; 1. “Over There!”, 2. “Yankee Doodle Boy” (commonly referred to as “I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy”) and 3. Grand Old Flag.  This collection can be played as individual songs or as medley.  It should be playable by a good middle school group but advanced and professional musicians will find use for this arrangement during patriotic holidays and certain ceremonies.
Cole Porter’s romantic, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintetarranged by Kenneth Abeling.  This arrangement is in a “Latin feel” and a good device for learning 2 against 3 & 3 against 4. Intermediate and professional players will both find this chart enjoyable and useful.

Georgia on My Mind, Words by Stuart Gorrell & Music by Hoagy Carmichael for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet arr. Ken Abeling.  This is an easier advanced to advanced arrangement of Hoagy Carmichael’s tribute to his home state.  While there are some challenging sections, the tempo and the way it lays should make it accessible to many ensembles.

 

The Girl From Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim, arranged here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet, is a staple in any professional quartets Jazz repertoire. However, this arrangement is still accessible to younger or less experienced Quartets.
