Joyce’s 71st NewYork Regiment March by Thornton Barnes Boyer and arranged here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling. This March honoring the 71st Regiment who participated in many of the major battles during the Civil War is still a part of the Marching Band and Concert Band literature performed by U.S. American Military Bands.

Zacatecas March or, La Marche De Zacatecas by Genaro Codina arranged here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling.  Zacatecas March is a Mexican Patriotic Song, the anthem of the state of Zacatecas and considered to be the second national anthem of Mexico. This is an advanced intermediate arrangement and this delightful march and is suitable for general performance as well as Mexican ethnic and patriotic events. The Playing time can range from 1:48 to 4:30 depending on repeats, the D.C. and which of the two possible end points is chosen.

Ave Verum Corpus (Hail, true body) transcribed for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet with optional Organ by Kenneth Abeling. Ave Verum Corpus is considered to be one of the most beautiful classical compositions ever written and certainly one of Mozart’s most memorable. This is a rather easy arrangement, performable with the Organ (or not cues added) and suitable for various religious or sacred events including Weddings.

Ave Maria – Charles Gounod’s beautiful melody written atop Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude in C major from his Well-Tempered Clavier BWV 846 for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet. This version along with Franz Schubert’s work of the same title are arguably the most popular. This piece is suitable for a variety of religious settings along with Weddings and Funerals.

 Army of the Nile by Kenneth Alford, transcription for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling, is a British Style March. This is one of Alford’s most popular marches and is of an advanced intermediate to easier advanced level of difficulty.

Entry of the Gladiators or Entrance of the Gladiators Op. 68 by Julius Fucik, transcription for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling and also known as “Thunder and Blazes”.  Although its original intent was of a more serious nature, it has become perhaps the most recognizable “Circus March’ of all time. This is a more advanced march but can be played at normal march tempo as well as circus or “screamer” march.

 
The Thunderer transcribed here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet and Woodwind Quintet, by Kenneth Abeling is another one of John Philip Sousa’s famous marches. This transcription is of intermediate level difficulty.

 
This is Colonel Bogey by Kenneth Alford transcribed here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling, and featured in the 1957 Academy Award winning movie, The Bridge on the River Kwai. This is an intermediate level transcription for Clarinet Quartet and its originally whistled melody will be familiar to most who hear it!
Semper Fidelis transcribed here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling, is another one of John Philip Sousa’s famous marches and The Official March of the United States Marine Corps. This transcription is of intermediate to advanced intermediate level difficulty.

This Little Light of Mine, African American Spiritual arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling. This is an advanced Intermediate level arrangement of this very popular spiritual in a Jazz/Blues style and is appropriate for all most religious services and general performance.

Trio Sonata No.9 "The Golden Sonata", Z.810 (originally in F Major) by Henry Purcell and arranged for Clarinet Quartet by Kenneth Abeling.  This Sonata was originally written for two violins, cello and continuo and all four original movements are included.  This Baroque period composition is appropriate for secular and sacred performances and is an advanced intermediate to early advance arrangement.

Dona Nobis Pacem, Translation (Grant us peace) arranged by Kenneth Abeling for Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet. This is a traditional canon usually attributed to Mozart but never absolutely confirmed. It is an intermediate level piece and suitable for general performance and sacred events.

Six Fugues by George Frideric Handel transcribed for Clarinet Quartet by Kenneth Abeling.  These fugues are intermediate to advanced intermediate level in difficulty and are suitable for general performance as well as religious services.

“Georgia on My Mind”, Words by Stuart Gorrell & Music by Hoagy Carmichael for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet arr. Ken Abeling.  This is an easier advanced to advanced arrangement of Hoagy Carmichael’s tribute to his home state.  While there are some challenging sections, the tempo and the way it lays should make it accessible to many ensembles.

Claude Debussy’s lovely La plus que lente for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling. This is an advanced intermediate to advanced transcription. Technically none of the individual parts are extremely demanding, but it does require a somewhat mature ensemble to play musically.

 
This is a collection or medley of three of George M. Cohan’s favorite patriotic songs arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Ken Abeling.  The songs include; 1. “Over There!”, 2. “Yankee Doodle Boy” (commonly referred to as “I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy”) and 3. Grand Old Flag.  This collection can be played as individual songs or as medley.  It should be playable by a good middle school group but advanced and professional musicians will find use for this arrangement during patriotic holidays and certain ceremonies.

This transcription is of intermediate to advanced intermediate level difficulty.
The Liberty Bell transcribed here for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet, is another one of John Philip Sousa’s famous marches and the theme to the Monty Python TV series. This transcription is of intermediate to advanced intermediate level difficulty. 
The Black Horse Troop for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet transcribed by Kenneth Abeling, is one of John Philip Sousa’s most popular marches. This arrangement is of intermediate level difficulty and audiences should readily recognize the melody.

Trio Sonata in C Major RV 82 by Antonio Vivaldi and arranged for Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, String Quartet and Woodwind Quartet by Kenneth Abeling. This piece was originally written for Flute, Lute and continuo and later transcribed for Guitar and Chamber Orchestra and Harpsichord in A Major.  This is a more advanced arrangement but not totally out of the musical reach of less experienced ensembles and may be performed without the Organ.

This is a collection of Six Pavanes by Luis de Milán originally written for the vihuela and transcribed here for Clarinet Quartet by Kenneth Abeling. These pavanes from the Renaissance period are suitable for general performance, and sacred events. They are for the most part moderately easy with a few moderately difficult passages. Additionally, they make an excellent introduction to the Renaissance period in music and the use of different meters.

La Cucaracha arranged for Brass Quintet, Clarinet Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Saxophone Quintet, String Quartet, Woodwind Quartet, and Woodwind Quintet by Kenneth Abeling. This selection is actually three separate arrangements of the very popular Mexican Folk Song in one to meet any performance need. The first is an easier advanced level theme and variations in 4/4 with a total playing time of approximately 3:25 followed by two more traditional and intermediate level arrangements of the song. The first in 3/4 and the second in 4/4.
