A Marshmallow World, lyrics by Carl Sigman & music by Peter De Rose arranged for Saxophone Quartet. This is cute little popular song from the late 1940s about wintertime or more particularly snow itself. The arrangement is intermediate level in difficulty and suitable for wintertime events including Christmas although it is not exclusively a Christmas song. Playing time approximately 2:00.

This is a collection or medley of three of George M. Cohan’s favorite patriotic songs arranged for Saxophone Quartet. This is an advanced intermediate arrangement of a very beautiful song originally written for the 1939 Broadway Musical Warm in May. It has since been recorded both as a vocal and instrumental by numerous artists. The playing time is approximately 3:10.

"Almost Like Being in Love" music by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner arranged for Saxophone Quartet. This cute show tune was originally written for the 1947 musical Brigadoon and has since been covered by numerous artists and of course the closing number in the movie “Groundhog Day”. This lovely piece has been recorded by dozens of prominent vocal artists, Operatic to Pop, and instrumentally as well as being featured in several movies. This is moderate level “Tango-ish” arrangements and suitable for general performance and other special events such as Weddings. Playing time 3:20.

This intermediate level arrangement of Handman’s charming melody has been recorded by dozens of popular artists dating back to 1927. Perhaps most notably on the list is Elvis Presley. Ave Maria by Franz Schubert for Saxophone Quartet is an arrangement of arguably the most popular of all compositions sharing this title. This piece is appropriate for Christmas, Weddings, and many other religious or sacred events.

This is the complete Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed for Saxophone Quartet by Kenneth Abeling. It has an optional organ part if so desired, but will work perfectly well without. Originally written for three violins three violas, three celli, double bass and continuo, this transcription despite its difficulty may actually be accessible to more advanced non-professional quartets. It for the most part lays well on all of the instrument and once continuous lines have been dispersed to allow for some breaks. A lead part solo has been created over the second movement Phrygian cadence that would have been originally improvised by the harpsichordist. Either the organist or another Instrument could improvise their own solo here if desired. Playing Time 13:00.

Fugue in G minor or “The Little Organ Fugue is one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most popular fugues, transcribed here for Saxophone Quartet. This transcription is both fun to play and challenging, is best suited for an advanced ensemble, and is appropriate for both secular and religious settings.

This, another of J.S. Bach’s most recognizable Aria’s is proper for numerous performance occasions including Weddings.

Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber from String Quartet, Op.11 transcribed here for Saxophone Quartet by Kenneth Abeling. Arguably one of Samuel Barber’s best-known works, this piece has been used in several Movies and TV Shows, perhaps most notably the 1986 Academy Award Winning movie “Platoon”. This beautiful but mournful piece is suitable for general performance, Worship Services, Funerals or other sad and reflective events. While not technically difficult, it is emotionally exhaustive to play. Playing Time 6:10.

"Basin Street Blues" written by Spencer Williams, first published in 1926 and made famous by a Louis Armstrong recording in 1928 is a Dixieland favorite.  This arrangement for Saxophone Quartet features solo sections by all in the ensemble and a fun read for the professional Quartet while still being accessible to younger or less experienced musicians.

String Quartet No.1 in F major, Op. 18 No.1, I Allegro con brio by Ludwig van Beethoven transcribed for Saxophone Quartet. This is an advanced level transcription of the first movement of Beethoven’s celebrated String Quartet No.1 and is suitable for general performance applications.
